Parenting Help
Unlike other jobs and roles in our lives, we assume the job of parent without any preparation, training or technical skill development. There are no manuals, instructions or roadmaps for parenting. We inherit most of what we know from custom, tradition, conventional wisdom, and popular opinion. Most of us fumble our way through the many challenges of parenting using trial and error and learning as we go.
In today’s society,
Our children are encountering many new challenges and risks. Bullying, electronic and gaming addictions, suicidal contagion, self-harming, threats of school shooting, gender identity concerns, developmental trauma and substance abuse/experimentation are all modern issues and concerns that today’s youth and their parents must navigate.
Children with neurological, cognitive and/or developmental impairments; emotional disturbances and psychiatric disorders are at even greater risk of negative outcomes. Parents today often need education, specialized support and tools to manage complicated parenting issues.
